Acid jazz impresario Eddie Piller joined us on the Chinwag settee to chat life, crazy experiences, being in the thick of it and what drives the desire to live a life in music.
Undoubtedly best known for the label he co-founded in 1988 with Gilles Peterson, Eddie’s influence on culture goes back to the beginning of the 80’s and his love of Mod. He has subsequently been there in the continual reinvention of this very British style/music/cultural phenomenon, as a commentator, influencer and now, elder statesman. As a music lover and DJ, he plays all over the world and is renowned for his incredible radio shows. Through his Acid Jazz label, he not only defined a sound and style but helped to launch the careers of, amongst others, Jamiroquai James Taylor Quartet, Brand New Heavies and Galliano. Eddie’s story is both riotous and warming.
